Summary
The Clerk’s Office is requesting Council approve a resolution to make a correction to the term of service end dates for the Planning Commissioners currently serving Districts 1, 3, and 5.
DISCUSSION
Background
The General Municipal Elections held on November 6, 2018, elected Councilmember Sol Jobrack to District 1, Councilmember Paul Canepa to District 3, and Councilmember Christina Fugazi to District 5. Positions on the Planning Commission coincide with the terms of the appointing Councilmember.
Planning Commission
Charter Article XXIV requires that each Councilmember nominate a candidate from the district he/she represents to sit on the Planning Commission and the City Council ratifies the appointments. The term of office is four-years and may be reappointed for a second term but may not serve more than two consecutive terms.
On February 5, 2019, Council passed Resolution 2019-02-05-1105 ratifying the appointments of:
District 1: Gerardo Garcia
District 3: Jeff Sanguinetti
District 5: Xavier Mountain
Present Situation
Resolution 2019-02-05-1105 as passed contains an error ending the term of service January 31, 2022. The correct end date for their term of service is January 31, 2023.
