State Grant for McKinley Park

The McKinley Park and Community Center is located at 424 East 9th Street. McKinley Park encompasses approximately 22-acres and is the largest municipal park in South Stockton. On July 16, 2019, a $10.38 million grant application for the McKinley Park and Swimming Pool Renovation project was submitted for Proposition 68 (2018 Bond Act) funding. The City was successful and received $8.5 million in Proposition 68 grant funds. A $1.88 million fund match is provided from the Strong Communities (Measure M) Initiative, for total project funding of $10.38 million.

The McKinley Park and Swimming Pool Renovation project will provide new picnic shelters, new ballfields, new play area, new restroom, and storage building, basketball and futsal courts, soccer fields, landscaping, and irrigation system modifications, path lighting, parking lot modifications, and resurfacing, and swimming pool and bathhouse renovation.

The City Council awarded a contract for design services on January 26, 2021.  Construction is anticipated to begin in 2022 and be completed by the end of 2023.  As expenses are incurred, the State will reimburse the City from the grant funding.
