Summary

Due to the resignation of the District 4 representative on the Community Development Committee there is one vacancy to be filled by Council ratification this evening.

DISCUSSION

Background

The Community Development Committee is a seven-member advisory committee that provides the Council with recommendations on the planning and use of funds that the City receives from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, including Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment Partnerships Program, and Emergency Solutions Grant funds.

As provided for in the Council-adopted Citizen's Participation Plan, appointments to the Community Development Committee are made by each of the six Councilmembers and the Mayor, with selections ratified by the full Council.  Appointments are for four years, except when an appointee is filling the remaining term of a vacated position. The only requirement to serve on the Committee is that the applicant must be a resident of the City of Stockton.

Present Situation

After the resignation of Member Burns from the Community Development Committee, the City Councilmember Lenz reviewed the active applications on file and in accordance with the Citizen’s Participation Plan, made the following selection to serve out the remainder of the vacated term:

Jane Butterfield, District 4

The term of service for this appointment will begin upon Council approval and expire September 30, 2021.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY

There is no financial impact to the City for this action.
