FIRE FIGHTER TRAINEE (OPEN/PROMOTIONAL) AMENDED ELIGIBLE LIST CERTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a resolution certifying the amended results of the open/promotional examination for Fire Fighter Trainee.

DISCUSSION
On August 16, 2018, the Civil Service Commission received the Fire Fighter Trainee eligible list in closed session and approved the list for certification. At this time, we are amending the current eligible list to include three candidates that were assigned to active duty with the United States Military.
Three candidates that applied during the application filing period were on active duty and were unable to complete the recruitment process during the original recruitment dates. These candidates completed the recruitment process upon their return from active duty. In accordance with the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), “No employer may deny a person initial employment, reemployment, retention in employment, promotion, or any benefit of employment based on the person’s membership, application for membership, performance of service, application to perform service, or obligation for service in the uniformed services.” (38 U.S.C. 4311)
Commissioners will receive detailed amended results of the examination in closed session on November 29, 2018. Included with the results is an amended list of applicants receiving passing scores, in rank order, and confidential applicant flow data worksheets for approval and adoption.
AUTHORITY
Rule VI, section 12(a) of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations for Miscellaneous Employees provides that the Civil Service Commission shall certify the results of each examination conducted by other than continuous examination.
