MOTION TO APPROVE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING SCHEDULE FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 2019

Staff recommends that the Planning Commission approve by motion the meeting schedule for the Calendar Year 2019.

Summary
This agenda item serves to confirm the regular Planning Commission meeting dates for the Calendar Year 2019. Meetings would occur two times per month, on the second and fourth Thursdays, with the exception of November 28 (Thanksgiving, City Holiday) and December 26 (day after Christmas Holiday).
DISCUSSION
Background
Stockton Municipal Code (SMC) §16.212.040(B) provides that the Planning Commission set the date and time for meetings according to its ‘Procedural Rules for Conducting Planning Commission Meetings’ (see Attachment A - Procedural Rules). Section 2 of the Procedural Rules states,
“Regular meetings of the Commission shall be held on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month unless the Commission, by majority vote, decides otherwise. If a regular Commission meeting falls on a legal holiday, that meeting shall be held on the preceding Monday in the Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall, Stockton, California, and shall begin at 5:30 p.m.”
Present Situation
After reviewing the Procedural Rules and 2019 calendar year (Attachment B), staff recommends that the Planning Commission adopt a calendar for the following dates:
• January 10 and 24
• February 14 and 28
• March 14 and 28
• April 11 and 25
• May 9 and 23
• June 13 and 27
• July 11 and 25
• August 8 and 22
• September 12 and 26
• October 10 and 24
• November 14
• December 12
VOTES REQUIRED
Approval of a motion for this item requires a majority vote.
