 BACKGROUND

 

In February 2018, CityLab began developing a case study to assess opportunities for growing the innovation-based economy in Stockton. CityLab interviewed the City of Stockton Economic Development staff and business stakeholders to prepare this case study.

 

PRESENTERS

 

David Zipper, Resident Fellow at the German Marshall Fund and a Partner in the 1776 Venture Fund, where he oversees investments in smart cities and mobility ventures. Following his tenure as director of NYC Business Solutions in Mayor Michael Bloomberg's administration in New York City he served as director of Business Development and Strategy for two mayors in Washington, D.C.

 

Robert Bole, General Manager at CityLab and Director of Global Strategy at The Atlantic where he focuses on assisting their growth in international markets. He has played similar roles at The New York Times and The Broadcasting Board of Governors, a federal agency that oversees five regional media networks. He is also a Senior Fellow for Public Diplomacy at the American Foreign Policy Council and a Board Member of Internews, a global NGO protecting and promoting a free and independent press.
