body

Summary

This report is to inform the Civil Service Commission of action taken by the Director of Human Resources amending the classification specification for Human Resources Office Assistant I/II/Specialist.  Per Rule IV, section 5(b) of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations for Miscellaneous Employees, the Director of Human Resources shall approve all new or amended class specifications and file with the Secretary of the Commission.

DISCUSSION

Background

These changes result from the Human Resources Department requesting to update the classification and add the physical and mental requirements prior to conducting recruitment.

Present Situation

The class specification description is being amended to include duties related to maintaining Social Media sites for the City and to include physical and mental abilities as an ADA Compliant Standard Language to assist in identifying the essential functions and requirements of the job.

This classification is unrepresented and Human Resources is in the process of recruiting to fill an upcoming vacancy.  Therefore, the Human Resources Office Assistant I/II/Specialist class spec is placed on the Civil Service Commission Agenda for ratification.

AUTHORITY

Rule IV, section 4 of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations for Miscellaneous Employees provides the Director of Human Resources the authority, on behalf of the Civil Service Commission, to maintain and approve class specifications making up the Classification Plan.
