DISCUSSION
Background
This is an advisory body that reports to the Charter Review Ad-Hoc Committee. The Commission has been tasked with a specific scope of work, concrete deliverables, and a time schedule for project completion that coincides with certain scheduled upcoming elections.
Three vacancies exist on the Charter Review Advisory Commission due to the resignations of Commissioners Seligman, Dougherty, and Brown. Council Resolution 2015-03-24-1502 provides direction for filling these three existing vacancies and future vacancies on the Charter Review Advisory Commission using the ranking process outlined in Council Policy 100-2 City Council and Mayoral Appointments to Boards, Commissions, and Committees, and provides the option for the three newly elected/appointed Councilmembers to appoint replacement members at a future meeting.
Present Situation
Tonight Council will be filling three vacancies using the ranking system outlined in Council Policy 100-2. In addition, Councilmember Wright is reappointing Peter Viri, Councilmember Lofthus is appointing Erin Guy-Castillo to replace Max Vargas, and Vice Mayor Fugazi is appointing Steve Lopez to replace Nicholas Hatten, making a total of six appointments, with terms commencing immediately upon Council ratification and ending June 30, 2016.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY
There is no financial impact to the General Fund from this appointment; there is no remuneration for service on the Charter Review Advisory Commission.
