DISCUSSION
Background
Stockton Municipal Code Chapters 12.72 and 5.12.010 outline the City's policy as it relates to the permitting process of special events. The City recognizes that special events provide benefits to the community through education and entertainment opportunities. The City requires that special event promoters obtain a permit to ensure the safety of the event's participants along with the community at-large.
Present Situation
City staff has conducted a comprehensive review of the City's current practices, analyzed other cities' policies and received feedback from stakeholders involved in promoting, hosting and planning special events. Staff has developed recommendations based on analysis of the data researched and feedback received and is prepared to present further details regarding the proposed changes.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY
The proposed changes may have only a very minor financial impact.
