DISCUSSION

The eligibility list for Technology Support Specialist II was established on June 12, 2013 with fourteen (14) names and was certified in accordance with Civil Service Rules and Regulations for Miscellaneous Employees.  The current list has twelve (12) names remaining is nearly two (2) years old.  After two rounds of interviews, in which two (2) individuals were hired, the department has indicated that the remaining candidates do not have desired skills, therefore, the list no longer meets the needs of the department.  The Information Technology Department would like to abolish this list and request Human Resources be allowed to recruit to establish a new list.

There are currently three (3) vacant Technology Support Specialist II positions and the department would like to fill the vacancies immediately, therefore, this request is to abolish the list pursuant to Rule VI, Section 12(c), Abolition of Eligible Lists of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations for Miscellaneous Employees as the remaining candidates do not have the desired skills to work in City of Stockton Information Technology Department.

AUTHORITY

The period of eligibility for appointment from eligible lists shall be at the discretion of the Civil Service Commission, but in no case will it exceed three (3) years. (Civil Service Rules and Regulations for Miscellaneous Employees, Rule VI,ยง 12(c))
