It is recommended that City Council adopt a resolution ratifying appointments to the Stockton Planning Commission.

Summary

 

DISCUSSION

 

The General Municipal Elections held on November 5, 2024 and the authority provided in City Council Resolution 2024-12-10-0605, elected Councilmembers Mariela Ponce, Mario Enríquez, Jason Lee and Christina Fugazi to City Council seats representing Districts 2, 4, 6 and the Office of the Mayor. Positions on the Planning Commission coincide with the terms of the appointing Councilmember.

 

Charter Article XXIV requires that each Councilmember nominate a candidate from the district he/she represents to sit on the Planning Commission and the City Council ratifies the appointments. The term of office is four-year.

 

Background

 

Present Situation

 

The newly elected Councilmembers and Mayor have received applications to fill positions on the Planning Commission. Below are the recommendations presented to Council for ratification this evening.

 

Planning Commission terms will begin February 1, 2025 and end January 31, 2029:

 

District 2:                     Derek Graves

District 4:                      William Muetzenberg

District 6:                     Yolanda Amen

Mayoral:                     Jeff Sanguinetti

 

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY

 

There is no financial impact to the General Fund from the appointment of Planning Commissioners. Planning Commissioners receive a $25 per meeting stipend and sufficient funding is available in account 048-1810-510 (Community Development).
