DISCUSSION

Background

Amendments to the class specification are a result of a request by the Stockton Police Department.

Present Situation

Amendments were made to the Definition, Class Characteristics, Principal Duties, and Qualifications sections, with the addition of a Physical/Mental Abilities section. The draft classification specification with redlines was completed and sent to the OE3 - Trades and Maintenance bargaining unit for review and the union concurred on December 16, 2025, expressing no concerns to proceed (Attachment A).

Human Resources and the Police Department brought to the City Council meeting of January 27, 2026, a resolution creating one new classified position. In the same resolution, Council was provided the salary range for the position of Senior Graffiti Abatement Technician in accordance with Stockton Municipal Code section 2.36.040. The position was approved by unanimous vote of the Council via Resolution 2026-01-27-1207.

The approved classification specification was signed by the Director of Human Resources on January 28, 2026, and is included in this report (Attachment B).
