body

Summary

Review and discuss draft 2022 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory with Climate Action Plan Advisory Committee (CAPAC) members to understand impacts in Stockton and the San Joaquin metropolitan statistical area. Understanding GHG emissions impacts will help inform the action strategies included in the Comprehensive Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CCAAP).

DISCUSSION

Background

City staff and hired consultant AECOM conducted a data request for utility usage and GHG emissions from all cities within the metropolitan statistical area (MSA) including, Lodi, Stockton, Tracy, Lathrop, Manteca, Ripon, Escalon and unincorporated areas of San Joaquin County. The data was collected to establish a baseline inventory of GHG emissions, identify the most impactful sources of emissions, and develop reduction targets and strategic measures based on the most notable impacts.

Present Situation

AECOM has compiled all the collected utility usage data from sectors such as electrical (residential and commercial), gas, transportation (on and off-road), septic, waste management, wastewater, and drinking water. AECOM will present and facilitate discussion and review of the draft 2022 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory based on received data. Understanding the GHG emissions inventory will better inform the decision-making process on mitigation and adaptation strategies for the CCAAP.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY

This action will have no direct impacts to the City Departments.
