DISCUSSION

The eligible list for Recreation Program Coordinator was established on July 17, 2025, with eight (8) candidates, and subsequently certified in accordance with the Civil Service Rules and Regulations for Miscellaneous Employees.

Two (2) individuals were hired from the eligible list, and one (1) did not show to the interview. Currently, there are five (5) active candidates remaining on the list, which is set to expire in July 17, 2026. The department has determined that the remaining candidates do not possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience required for the position. As a result, the eligible list no longer meets the department's staffing needs.

The Community Services Department seeks approval for Human Resources to initiate a new recruitment to establish a new eligible list for the Recreation Program Coordinator position.

There is currently one (1) vacant Recreation Program Coordinator position, and the department aims to fill the vacancy immediately. This request to abolish the eligible list is made in accordance with Rule VI, Section 12(c) of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations for Miscellaneous Employees, Abolition of Eligible Lists, as the remaining candidates do not possess the knowledge, skills or experience required for the role in the City of Stockton Community Services Department.

AUTHORITY

Upon the recommendation of the Personnel Officer and with the approval of the Commission, an eligible list may be abolished prior to the expiration of three years for reasons of inadequacy or other reasons consistent with the principles of merit and good personnel administration. (Civil Service Rules and Regulations for Miscellaneous Employees, Rule VI,§ 12(c))
