Schedule a public hearing to adopt recommendations relating to salaries and benefits for members of the City Council in accordance with Article IV, Section 410 of the City Charter.
body
BACKGROUND
The Salary Setting Commission recommends to the City Council the monthly salary that members of the City Council will receive for a two-year period. Human Resources conducts a compensation study to present salary data to the Commission. In addition to the salary survey, Human Resources provides supplemental data and information as requested by the Commission. Once the Commission makes a formal recommendation, Human Resources submits the recommendation to the City Council on behalf of the Salary Setting Commission.
SUMMARY
The Salary Setting Commission is responsible for recommending the monthly salary for members of the City Council for a two-year period. In support of this process, the Human Resources Department conducted a compensation study and prepared a salary survey using comparable agencies. The information is being presented to assist the Salary Setting Commission in determining whether sufficient data exists to proceed with a public hearing.
DISCUSSION
Human Resources is presenting a salary survey developed using twelve comparable agencies. Agencies were selected based on factors including agency size, demographics, proximity and geographic location, and the provision of comparable services (see Attachment A).
The Salary Setting Commission shall review and discuss the contents of this report and determine whether the information provided includes sufficient data to proceed with scheduling a public hearing.
