Summary
This report is to inform the Civil Service Commission of action taken by the Director of Human Resources amending the classification specification for Code Enforcement Officer I/II. Per Rule IV, section 5(b) of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations for Miscellaneous Employees, the Director of Human Resources shall approve all new or amended class specifications and file with the Secretary of the Commission.
DISCUSSION
Background
Amendments to the class specifications are a result of a request by the Police department.
Present Situation
Amendments were made to the class characteristics, definition, principal duties, qualifications, knowledge, skills, and other requirements and include a physical and mental abilities section (Attachment A). The approved classification specification was signed by the Director of Human Resources on November 8, 2023, and is included in this report (Attachment B).
AUTHORITY
Rule IV, section 4 of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations for Miscellaneous Employees provides the Director of Human Resources the authority, on behalf of the Civil Service Commission, to maintain and approve class specifications making up the Classification Plan.
