Summary

Stockton Art Nights
The Stockton Arts Commission hosted its first Art Night event of 2025 at the Civic Auditorium on March 12. The Commission’s Stockton Art Nights are held quarterly throughout the year, showcasing art by a variety of local artists across multiple genres. At March's event, the Commission featured nine local artists who performed for nearly 100 attendees. The Commission is currently accepting applications for the June 11 event. More information on the application process can be obtained by emailing Thomas Freeman at thomas.freeman@stocktonca.gov.

Eggstravaganza Events
The community centers will be hosting our annual Eggstravaganza events in April. Each event will feature springtime games, refreshments, community information booths, and, of course, our egg hunts with over 4,000 eggs at each location. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Arnold Rue, Seifert, Stribley, and Van Buskirk Community Centers.

Playmobile
Our mobile recreation and library vehicle began its 2025 season on March 17. The Playmobile brings a variety of fun and interactive games, access to electronic devices, and story time to local City of Stockton parks. The Playmobile will visit 24 parks throughout the spring, and we’ll share the summer and fall schedules in our next digital guide in April. The current schedule can be found on our website at stocktonca.org/recreation and on our Facebook page at facebook.com/COSrecreation.

Project Toolbox - Exploratorium Trip
On April 18, we will take 40 teens on an unforgettable trip to the Exploratorium in San Francisco. The teens will have the opportunity to engage with hands-on exhibits and view demonstrations and displays to spark their curiosity about the world of science. This trip is open to teens ages 12-16, and staff have scheduled two pickup locations at Arnold Rue Community Center and the Weston Ranch Library. There are only a few spots left, so we encourage teens to register soon.

Lifeguarding Certification Classes
The Aquatics section is hosting three more free lifeguarding certification courses in April at McNair High School. These are blended certification programs consisting of both online and in-person classes. Through classroom learning and hands-on practice, participants will learn to recognize and prevent injuries, perform water and land rescue skills, provide first aid, and administer professional rescuer CPR. Those who successfully complete both the online and in-person tests will receive a certified lifeguard certificate and will be eligible to apply for a summer lifeguarding position with the City of Stockton or any other agency. These courses are open to individuals aged 15 and older.

Pickleball Tournament

The Adult Sports team is planning a doubles pickleball tournament at Stribley Community Center on April 5. The entry fee for each team is $60, and the registration deadline is March 28. Registrations are accepted at any of our community centers or online. The tournament is open to players aged 18 and older.

Youth Sports

We are currently accepting registration forms for the Start Smart Outdoor Soccer program through March 30. The Start Smart curriculum, developed by the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS), is designed for preschool-aged children, ages 3-6. Start Smart activity sessions are led by Community Services staff members, and all equipment is provided. This soccer program will be held at the Stockton Soccer Complex. The fee for this program is $34.50 per player, and it qualifies for a 25% scholarship when requested at the time of registration.

Seifert Community Center is accepting registration forms for a 3v3 basketball tournament for teens ages 13-17 on Saturday, April 5. The tournament will feature competitive games, refreshments, and prizes. There is no entry fee for teams, but they must be registered in advance to participate.  The tournament field is limited to 12 teams.  More information can be obtained by calling Seifert Community Center at (209)937-5508.
