Stockton Arts
Public Art Mural Program
The Stockton Arts Commission has selected three (3) artists to paint murals through this new program. The selected locations include the Market Street parking garage, the Coy parking garage, and Oak Park Senior Center.
The awarded artist, Charly Malpass, for the Market Street parking garage, has completed her piece called “Winged Wanderers”. This mural depicts monarch butterflies fluttering above a map of Stockton, with vibrant orange and black hues. The butterflies appear as if they have paused mid-flight to admire the landmarks and streets. Their presence adds a touch of enchantment to the composition, evoking a sense of serenity and harmony between nature and urban life. The ribbon-cutting event to unveil the mural was held on Thursday, August 1st. The Coy parking garage and Oak Park Senior Center are scheduled to be installed this Fall.

Youth Sports
Our Youth Sports leagues are pleased to start new partnerships with NFL Flag Football, Jr. NBA, and MLS Go. Staff are excited about the resources these partnerships will bring to the youth of Stockton who participate in our leagues. In addition to youth wearing the jerseys of professional teams, these partnerships allow participants, staff, parents, and coaches to access program curriculum, coaching fundamentals and drills, and information about the benefits of exercise and healthy lifestyles.
After-School and Teen Programs
With schools back in session the community centers have resumed our free after-school and teen programs. The after-school programs, designed for ages 5-12, provide expanded learning opportunities that support developmentally appropriate cognitive, social, physical, and emotional outcomes. Our after-school programs offer a balanced program of academic support, arts and cultural enrichment, recreation, sports, nutrition, and STEM activities. Each after-school program will have a unique schedule but will consist of the same program structure at each location. The teen programs, designed for ages 13-17, provide drop-in opportunities for teens access structured and passive basketball, table tennis, video games, computers, and a variety of other recreation activities. This program also strives to provide skill-based opportunities for teens to develop and learn. These programs are offered at Arnold Rue, Seifert, Stribley, and Van Buskirk Community Centers Monday - Friday each week.
